When disaster struck one of the world's poorest and most oppressed countries, Lehman students, faculty, and staff wasted no time in developing a plan of action to support and aid Haiti's earthquake victims. Within a two-day period, approximately 45 individuals from different organizations, offices, and clubs gathered in order to propose fundraising ideas and solutions to this tragic and heartfelt dilemma. Unlike previous events, the Lehman community came together as a whole to create one massive project that will have a larger impact on campus, as opposed to different and smaller clubs or organizations competing for the spotlight. At the end of the day, it was a matter of getting things done and contributing to a cause that is bigger than anyone could possibly imagine.

Student Conference, C.A.S.A, Lehman Students Care, Golden Key Honor Society, Student Affairs' Peer Educator Program, Sigma Phi Rho, and Lehman L.I.F.E played a prominent role during the developmental stages of the Haiti relief effort. This dedicated group of Lehman leaders identified themselves as "Lehman Sauve Ayiti" and ingeniously created HAWK (Haiti Aid Week) as a means to fundraise, collect donations and raise awareness about Haiti's current devastation.
Originally conceptualized by Olu Onemola, an active member of Golden Key and Student Conference, HAWK was a weeklong initiative (February 22nd -26th) in which each day centered on a different fundraising affair.

The goal was to create as many engaging activities in which students, faculty, and staff participated in and financially contributed to. "Lehman Sauve Ayiti" and the Office of Community Service/ Service Learning and New Student Programs saw this week as an opportunity to create one campus-wide union that will unite and strengthen relationships within the Lehman community. Amanda Dubois, Coordinator of the Office of Community Service stated, "It's wonderful that we are working as a collective unit. As Lehman's leaders it's important that we depend, consult, and trust each other to get the job done. HAWK will be more effective if we pull our resources together and work as team because 45 minds work better than one."
