A deafening silence was accompanied by looks of disbelief on the faces of all present when the Board made the announcement that LSU had been disqualified. The silence was broken when students interjected, either expressing their support for or displeasure at the decision. There were angry outbursts from LSU and their supporters, while supporters of WML were obviously elated.

WML's T'helah Ben-Dan who was elected as Research Planner declared: "We feel that this is the fairest thing that's happened in this entire election."

Understandably, LSU supporters disagreed. According to Amanda Frantz, one of the students who started the Facebook posts that captivated the Lehman community during the campaign: "I think it is wrong to disqualify an entire slate."

Another LSU supporter, Jason Martinez also feels the same way: The reason they gave to disqualify LSU was unfair, everybody goes to vote with campaign materials."

Abisola Olabode a candidate for the Senate, filed a complaint that an election worker was seen making hand gestures to waiting LSU candidates while a student was casting his vote, and the candidates subsequently erupting in applause. This complaint was later withdrawn by Olabode on the grounds that she had been misinformed.

Ayesha Lewis who also ran for the Senate found herself in hot water after Mr. Sullivan complained that she was seen in the restricted voting area speaking with students. Election workers also testified at the hearing that she was seen interfering with the voting process and refused to leave the restricted area when asked to do so. Lewis defended herself stating that she was not in violation of any election rules as it was not explicitly stated in the Election Code that she was barred from being in the area once she is not campaigning. Furthermore, she stated she had obtained permission from Mr. Sullivan to be in this area. However this allegation was thrown out by the Election Board as a formal complaint was not submitted.
