The Bronx Culture Trolley is providing riders a journey through art and history with their replica of a 20th century trolley car making stops at the Bronx's hottest cultural attractions, dining establishments and entertainment venues. At their discretion, passengers have the freedom to hop on and off at different stops along the route free of charge.

Venues include the Longwood Art Gallery at Hostos Center for Arts & Culture, Bronx Museum of the Arts, Pregones Theater, Hagan Saint Philip Gallery, Spanic Attacks Bronx Salon, Yankee Tavern, and Sweetwaters Bar & Grill. These attractions merely mark the beginning of an exciting journey through the diverse arts and cultures that the South Bronx has to offer.

This idea of journeying through the culture of the Bronx was conceived in December 2002 as a project of the South Bronx Cultural Corridor. The goal was to create and maintain a higher level of arts participation in the arts and develop businesses along the Bronx's lower Grand Concourse, while simultaneously promoting the "Cultural Corridor" of the South Bronx as a tourism destination.

The trolley operates the first Wednesday evening of every month beginning at 5:00pm, with the exception of September and January. Riders receive a meet and greet reception of wine, soft drinks and hors d'oeurves at the Longwood Art Gallery located at Hostos Community College.

The trolley leaves from Hostos Community College at 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm, making a cultural loop through the lower Grand Concourse, dropping off riders at their selected stops and picking them up at the next go-around. The venues that are included in the cultural journey helps riders experience and go to places that they do not normally go to on their spare time. This helps riders experience more of what the Bronx has to offer.

Funding for the Bronx Culture Trolley comes from donors such as the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, and the Bronx Borough President's office.

Considered to be the city's most successful trolley route, and praised by The Daily News, The Bronx Times Reporter and CityLimits.org, this experience is a must for anyone who appreciates culture. For the perfect combination of art, culture and entertainment hop onto the Bronx Culture Trolley and experience some of the borough's undiscovered treasure.
