"I agree with them in a sense that it is a modest operation," said Jose Magdaleno, vice president for Student Affairs. "It is certainly something that we would like to see grow appropriately."

Scott hired a web designer to create a mock website that the administration will have to approve before website goes live. He hopes to have the site online by the spring semester, yet comments that WHLC should have been online a long time ago.

"We need to be at least ahead of the curb now," Scott said. "While we missed the whole radio station 'AM' era, let's go online and make those podcasts and hopefully be live streaming."

Magdaleno pointed out that the website has to follow Lehman guidelines, and state and federal laws. Magdaleno added that funding for the radio station website would come from the Lehman College Association.

"I certainly see their interest in seeing the radio station expand and grow," Magdaleno said. "If there were a way to secure additional funding for WHLC, I will be the most supportive to try to develop a plan to see it expand."

Scott urged mass communications majors to be involved with the radio station to get hands-on experience.

"Now that I am general manager, my main goal is to focus in spreading the word," Scott said, "and one way I am trying to do that is by making diverse shows, and also going online."

I was on air at WHLC (1986-88). Fact is, there WAS an illegal transmitter, that could be heard for about five blocks around the Student Life Building. (Continued…)
