Shopping for outerwear this fall has become trouble-free. The search to find a durable, quality coat that is not overpriced and fits properly, seems never-ending. Here are a few tips that will help make shopping for outerwear less hectic.

As women, we all want to look good without looking like an over- bundled eight-year old in a snow-suit, huge snow boots, scarf, hat and hood. That is not an ideal look for the Lehman woman. Instead of just searching for a warm coat, decide by the fabric and by the style of coat you'd like.

Since trendy designs are becoming cheaper and cheaper, it may be easier to find the coat you're looking for within your local shopping area. Trench coats, double breasted or military coats are what's in-style this fall.

Wool coats are easier to find now; they seem to be everywhere! Also, they are more classy, more hip and more affordable. Cool collars, gathered-waists and signature buttons are only some of the new looks out this season. Whether it's long or short length, the more details-the better. These wool coats are becoming available in every size, whether you are short or tall, have long arms or a long neck, they is designed to suit every consumer. A wool coat such as the Felicity Double Cloth Coat, sold at J-Crew, is made to flatter a woman's silhouette, which otherwise seems to be nonexistent at winter time. Not only is wool a fabric that keeps you warm, but it also gives a sparkling effect on jewelry.

Military style coats, which were visible in the 2004 Marc Jacobs collection, are the current phenomenon of outerwear. This feminine, classy coat makes a cold breezy day one to look forward to. Have fun with colors and prints; green, red, plaid and houndstooth are some of the many features of these military coats. As a current trend you would think the coats would be mysteriously unavailable or super expensive, right? Wrong. Stores such as Urban Outfitters have tons of military-style, coats and jackets, with price ranges for as low as $98 and as stylish as to have metal toggle buttons. Lehman students: there is no way to wear this coat wrong!
